It will be fierce and the weak ones will be sweep to the side and tossed away like last week's junk mail. To make it through to those three spots, each performer will have to uniquely standout. They cannot play it safe but they must dare to be great. Here is my recap. First up was Von Smith who was known during Hollywood Week as "screaming at the audience." Well, he has stopped screaming and is singing with decent vocals. Paula suggested that he performs as a "seasoned" performer and even Simon was pleased. Call: 1 866 436 57 01 Coming from a town named Hurricane, we would have anticipated Taylor Vaifanau would have some power and fury behind her voice. But her version of "If I Ain't Got You" was dull. She was almost listless on stage and it reminded me of someone who is stiff and uncertain about whom they are. If she survives tonight, she will have to reach inside and release whatever it is that makes her special. But then of course, perhaps deep inside is exactly what we saw tonight……flatness. Call: 1 866 436 5702 Alex Wagner Trugman tried to sing "And That's Why They Call It The Blues." It was horrible. He says that he is lifting weights to bulk up and rid himself of the "dorky look" but weight training won't help his singing. And those facial grimaces. It was painfully comical to watch. Bye-bye Alex and back to college for you. Call: 1 866 436 5703 An early favorite seriously faltered with "The Winner Takes It All." Arianna Afsar missed the high notes and she knew it. The song was too much for her vocal range. It demanded so much more than she had to give and that is very sad because Arianna has a lovely voice but she picked the wrong song. Will that mistake knock out of a seat? I hope not because she has real talent. Let's believe that the voters will remember her better performances and give her a pass on tonight's attempt. Call: 1 866 436 5704. Smooth as a swaying tropical island palm were the vocals of Ju'Not Joyner with "Hey There, Dehlia." This business man and single father sang from his heart and we could tell that the song meant something very special to him. He lacks stage presence, but we will not forget his sensitive voice. Call: 1 866 436 5705. Close your eyes and listen to the jazz/blues vocals of Kristen McNamara singing "Give Me One Reason." She was perhaps the best we have heard thus far tonight. Even though she wasn't true to the meaning of the lyrics with her own version of it, she gave us a solid performance. Call: 1 866 436 5706. Self proclaimed Drama Queen, Nathaniel Marshall, appeared as if he was cheerleading some sort of health spa work-out musical dance with "I Would Do Anything For Love." But he seems like a lost little boy searching to find himself with lip studs, earlobe plugs, tats and neon blue headbands. Call: 1 866 436 5707 A singing and staying at home mother was given a second chance when called back to join the Top 36 when Joanna Pacitti was removed from the competition.. Felicia Barton was grateful beyond words and tonight she tried to nail down a seat with her version of "No One." She has some brief struggles with the song but her finish was strong and she is determined to stay in this competition. Call: 1 866 436 5708. Never making any excuses, blind Scott MacIntyre continues to amaze us with determination, talent, and sure force of will. Tonight he performed "Mandolin Rain." He had some moments of labor and admits that he feels more confident when self-accompanied with his keyboard. Call: 1 866 436 5709. Country singer Kendall Beard nervously sang "This One Is For The Girls." Even though she had some shrill pitched notes, she overall appeared confident and she obviously enjoyed herself. But whether or not she made a sufficient impression to earn a coveted seat is not certain. Call: 1 866 436 5710. College student Jorge Nunez sang "Don't Let The Sun Go Down" well enough to impress the judges and the audience. Whether or not he has the "it" factor to continue in the competition is questionable. I found his version to be too soft to be considered strong and memorable. Call: 1 866 436 5711. Last to sing with her powerful voice is the highly talented Lil Rounds. She was an early favorite and continues to excite us with her vocals. She hammered down the nails with "Be Without You." She was without question the most impressive and most dazzling singer of the evening. Make sure you make your vote count. Call: 1 866 436 5712. Now, the phones are open and you have to call in for your favorites. And then you dare not return here tomorrow night for the recap of the winners that is written just for you.
