Some will falter, some will at best be mediocre, but hopefully several will show us that talent which makes us want more. Tonight the songs of Michael Jackson are showcased. There is some rough news, however, because two of the singers will be sent home tomorrow night instead of the usual one! Here is my recap. First to grab the mike was married mother of three Lil Rounds with a solid performance of “The Way You Make Me Feel.” She continues to have solid performances and an ease of movement on the stage. She has set tonight’s expectations. But Lil, what was with that soft pink top? You can do better. Call 1-866-436-5701. Next we had Scott
MacIntyre who has been blind since birth. His parents very early introduced
him to piano and song. Tonight he played a grand piano while singing “Keep the
Faith.” It was not his best performance due to some flat notes and the song
just isn’t contemporary enough to make him sparkle. Call 1-866-436-5702. Oil roughneck Michael Sarver grew up without a father and now he shares all his love with his own family. And some of that love shines through when he sang “You Are Not Alone.” He is not the best singer of the Final 13, but he has a real passion about him that should stand him quite well. Call 1-866-436-5704. Although Jasmine Murray is a minor, she could become a major talent. Tonight she performed okay with “I’ll Be There.” She seemed to struggling with a couple of the notes but her finish was strong. For being just 16, she tries to appear more mature in her stage presence, but that is not what we want. We want Jasmine to be her age and enjoy it totally. Call 1-866-436-5705. Married just five months ago, Kris Allen played his guitar and sang a safe rendition of “Remember the Time” performed without real passion. His stage movements and vocal enthusiasm seemed overly rehearsed to me. Call 1-866-436-5706 Singing since age 5, dreaming of American Idol since age 9, Allison Iraheta at age 16 is “the rocker girl” of Season 8. Her powerful and unique sultry voice nailed “Give Into Me.” She has natural talent and will be in the competition for weeks to come. Call 1-866-436-5707. Last week, Anoop Desai was given the luckiest of lucky breaks by being named the thirteenth finalist. Tonight his unexciting performance of “Beat It” did little to help him. Simon went so far to say that he regretted giving him that 13th slot. Anoop has talent but tonight he played it too safe. If he makes it through the vote, he will have to considerably step it up. Call 1-866-436-5708. Jorge Nunez says that this Puerto Rican family is loud, funny and supportive. But tonight he seemed emotionally disconnected singing “Never Gonna Say Good-bye.” He just sang it. He never owned it, he never sold it, and he seems as relieved as we were when it was over. And that’s tough because he has talent. Call 1-866-436-5709. Single mother and font analyst, Megan Corkrey, always wanted to be a singing star. Tonight her “Rockin’ Robin” was finger snapping good. Sure, it didn’t allow her to highlight her vocals, but she has the looks, the moves and the voice. And she is fun to watch. Call 1-866-436-5710. Who has that “it” factor? “It” belongs to Adam
Lambert. He moved to Coming from a family where love always came first, Matt Giraud played the piano while solidly performing “Human Nature.” Follow the stunning performance of Adam Lambert, Matt was more relaxed, quiet and soft. Call 1-866-436- 5712 Last up was Alexis Grace who is back in the game. This young mother was raised on her father’s blues and tonight she was gritty with “Dirty Diana.” She commands the stage like a combat captain, knows her routine and is confident with her vocals. She is ready to continue in the competition. Now because there are 13 contestants, she was given a number that is out of sequence. So be careful when you vote for her. That being said, call 1-866-436- 5736. Again, please note the last two digits are 36. Okay, that is the recap of the Final 13. Have you made your selections? If so, then make the calls and vote because tomorrow two of them are going home. And don’t you dare not return right here tomorrow for my recap written just for you.
