American Idol Tryouts in Louisville, KY. on Jan 21, 2009, Summary of Episode 4
By Marcus Check out our extensive news articles on American Idol at AmericanIdolHeadlines.com Tonight it was off to the races in Louisville, Kentucky for American Idol. First up was Tiffany Shed who told the judges that if she failed to win a golden ticket, she would attend college. Well, she sang as flat as a horseshoe with “Hero Lies in You.” But it was another story with Joanna Pacitti who accepted her mother’s sage advice to “get in there and kick ass.” And did she kick with “We Belong.” She felt redeemed with a golden ticket as she previously was signed with A&M Records but that deal collapsed. After hearing the nasal twang of Mark Mudd (refer to your history books about John Wilkes Booth broken leg and Doctor Mudd to learn the origin of “your name means mud”) singing ‘White Lightning” we all needed a stiff drink or two. But then Brent Keith rocked the judges with “Can’t Get Enough” and easily pocketed a golden ticket. Dueling pianist and singer Matt Gerard stood out with a unique vocal style with “I Don’t Wanna Be” and won a gold ticket. Physic and Chinese language letters are a passion for Ross Plezick, but he flatly flunked singing “Cara Mia.” It is back to academics for Ross. Quiet and reserved stay-at-home mom Alexis Grace and her boyfriend plan to “soon marry.” Well, that may just have to wait after she easily snagged a gold ticket with “Dr. Feelgood.” She needs to shake free of her shyness and find that inner rocker that I know rests within her spirit. This is one singer to watch. Think “Little Richard” and you can get a sense of the energy emanating from Aaron Williamson as he screamed and Werewolf howled “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” but without any talent other than primal rage. Being featured on a local Louisville TV morning station as a contestant, Rebecca Garcia so badly butchered “Before He Cheats” in front of the judges that the TV morning news show may be cancelled. The last contestant to win a gold ticket was Lenicia Young who was raised with her siblings by her single mother. Life was hard and mean with an absent father and for many years the family lived in and out of shelters. But Lenicia developed an intense desire to find herself a goal and to achieve it. She is on her way towards that achievement after singing her original song “Nattie.” I wish her the best as her and her family’s hopes are now on this talented woman’s shoulders. That wraps up another American Idol Tryout. Don’t forget to return right here for my next recap written especially for you. Links to my other summaries: Episode 1, Episode 2, and Episode 3.
