American Idol, February 12, 2009 "Big Late Night Switch For The Top 36 - Hello Felicia, Bye-bye Joanna"
By Marcus Check out our extensive news articles on American Idol at AmericanIdolHeadlines.com American Idol, February 12, 2009 “Big Late Night Switch For The Top 36 - Hello Felicia, Bye-bye Joanna” By Marcus After the completion of last night’s broadcast from the
judge’s mansion, most of us went to bed knowing who were in the Top 36. But
what did we know? Because, while we dreamed the night away, the
Idol shakers and movers gathered to make two big changes that effected the Top
36 contestants. Felicia Barton, a 26 year old talented singer from The producers’ decision? Joanna Pacitti is out and Felicia Barton is in. What happened? One of the rules of the American Idol show is that the singers cannot have any current deals with record labels and cannot have a management agreement. They cannot be employed by Fox, or Fox affiliates, or by Free Mantle Media, or by 19 Entertainment. But performer Joanna Pacitti has had a major record album deal and produced “This Crazy Life.” As a young girl at age 11, she sang in a Broadway musical “Annie.” She performed in MTV’s “First Year” and was approached to be spokeswoman for Bloomingdale’s Back to School ’06. And just this year Britney Spears recorded one of Joanna’s songs. She has performed with one of the dancers, Mark Ballas, of “Dancing With The Stars.” Two movies, “Legally Blonde” and “Bratz” had some of her songs on their soundtracks. And it is rumored that she is a close personal friend of two top dog executives of 19 Entertainment. So what? Joanna Pacitti is not an undiscovered talent but a seasoned professional who intimately knows the entertainment business and has been involved with it for more than half of her life. Her tryout on Season 8 American Idol was perhaps her last desperate attempt to rekindle a musical career which had been slowing burning itself out. Perhaps the lack of public interest in her singing is just that---a lack of real talent and polish that is recognized by the consumer. You just don’t have that “it” factor. So, it is bye-bye to Joanna and “welcome to the Top 36” for Felicia Barton. For more news on Joanna Pacitti click here and for more information about Felicia Barton click here.
